Longvida curcumin supports working memory and mood

Longvida® curcumin improves memory in healthy people

In 2015, researchers from the University of Swinburne (Australia) conducted a study on the effects of Longvida® curcumin on cognition.

More specifically, they observed effects on mood, mental fatigue and working memory in a healthy, middle-aged population between 60 and 80 years of age (Cox et al. 2014).

After 4 weeks of administration, they found that daily supplementation with Longvida® curcumin (400 mg) produced significant improvements in working memory. They also reported a reduction in mental fatigue.

 

A new clinical trial confirms the benefits of curcumin on memory in people between 50 and 80 years of age.

In 2020, the same researchers published the results of a new clinical trial (Cox et al. 2020). They assessed in particular the impact of Longvida® curcumin on cognitive functions, but over a longer period, i.e. 12 weeks.

Clinical Trial Design

The researchers wanted to confirm the effects of Longvida® curcumin after 12 weeks in an age range of 50 to 80 years.

This double-blind, placebo-controlled study involved eighty healthy participants between the ages of 50 and 80. Participants were randomized to receive 400 mg/day of Longvida® curcumin or a placebo equivalent.

After an initial assessment, results were measured at 4 and 12 weeks.
Investigators evaluated cognitive performance, mood measures, cardiovascular function and several other blood biomarkers. It is noted that throughout the study, Longvida® formula was very well tolerated without serious adverse effects.


Results of the study


The results confirm those obtained in the previous study.
Taking a curcumin preparation with a high bioavailability significantly improved working memory and reduced fatigue of the participants. A slight increase in circulating glucose was also observed.

The study by Dr. Scholey and colleagues confirms that Longvida® curcumin improves aspects of mood, working memory and mental fatigue in healthy people.
